On Day 6....August 31, we visited Queens Bath on Kaua'i. It was a great trip and very fun. We saw several sea turtles (watch the movie closely on some of the videos and you can see them come up for air!). I finish this video up with a timelapse of our view from the lanai. Quite the view! :-)

Kaua'i Day 5
On our 5th day of adventure in Kaua'i, we visited Waimea Canyon. It was a late start, as we lounged around for a bit. We started the hike around 12:30 or 1:00. We drove up the canyon and it was a great, but twisty, drive up with a few stops at some lookouts. My 28-135mm lens had trouble focusing, so I put on the circular polarizer filter and it worked really well, then when we got to the second lookout and I pulled the lens out, the polarizer was busted, so I switched to Kim's 70-300 lens. The camera took some "okay" pictures, but nothing I was super pleased with, so I switched to my Pentax Optio WG-1. It took some pretty good pictures, but I don't like the video that it's taking. I put together some pictures into a video. Hope you enjoy!

Kauai Day 4
On Day 4...August 29, 2011...of our Kaua'i adventure, we decided to go and visit the National Tropical Botanical Garden on the South Side of the island. It was a great experience, and we learned a ton about the local plants. It turns out that most of the plants, trees, etc...that are on this island are not meant to be here at all! In fact, less than 10% of the plants and trees we see are meant to be here, most of the things we see are introduced species and are actually considered weeds, no matter how pretty they are!
Here's a short video of some of the sights!

Kauai Day 3
Day three, August 28, 2011, was a great day! We woke up early to see the sunrise, but instead of the sunrise we saw clouds, and the sun illuminating rain that was happening out at the ocean. It was really very pretty, but not what we were hoping to see. We then got ready for Church and visited the Kauai Christian Fellowship on the North Shore. It was quite the adventure and quite a fun Church. I was glad to find out that reGENERATION isn't the only church that pushes out around 100 dB's on their music! After Church, we went and visited Poipu beach, walked around, saw another monk seal, and decided it was a great day for snorkeling. We snorkeled for probably 30-45 minutes (or more), and saw some very pretty fish! We then did lunch, drove up to the National Botanical Garden, reserved a spot for a tour of the gardens for Monday. We went shopping, and then came home. It was really a long day, but gorgeous and a lot of fun!

Kauai Day 2
I learned today, August 29, 2011, that if you don't blog about what happened on that day or the following day you often forget! Well, on Kauai Day 2, August 27, 2011, we explored the North side of the Island. We rented snorkel gear, visited Ke'e becah and snorkeled, and toured the North shore for a while. I tested the Pentax for the first time underwater and it performed better than I expected. We finished the day off with steak, shrimp, and salad. It was quite the day! :-)

The first day of Kauai...
Well...here we be! We made it to Kauai.
This is a picture of us just after touchdown in Kauai....

We started the journey at 0430 this morning with me waking up for a shower prior to leaving. We left the house at 0530 to board the plane at 0650. We had the honor of flying Alaska Airlines and riding on their BSU plane. Here are a couple of pictures from the flights from BSU to Seattle:
We then had a three hour layover at SEATAC and took off on an Alaska Jet for Kauai. We landed in Kauai ahead of schedule. I watched a movie for the first two hours, then slept during August Rush and then talked with Megan and some of our seat mates on the way there. Here are some pictures of our plane ride over and shortly after we touched down.
Today was definitely a learning day. Learning that I'm CRANKY and ANXIOUS when I travel and it comes off as being mean (note to self...WORK ON IT!). Also when you have 11 hours (+/- a few minutes) of traveling, you get a lot of time to think. I thought a LOT about the reGEN ministry and what God is doing with us, as well as prayed a lot for one of my good friends, and asked God to protect him while he is in Australia.
Once we landed we checked into our condo, went shopping, and then bought Pizza. Listening to the sounds of the ocean are amazing. It's such a wonderful sound, I can't wait to go visit the ocean, the hikes, etc...while here.
Well, that is all for now. I think we are going to bed. It's only 8:30 local time, but 12:30 back home, meaning we've been up and going for around 20 hours now. I'd say it's time for bed! And sleaping in tomorrow. :-) Sleep well all, and God bless.

Taking the leap
Sometimes the journey with God can be a scary one. In fact, I don't know of another time that I would just trust someone to say "let's go do this...but you don't get to know the plan.". That is how I feel God has been working recently. I was asked to be the lead on the arts/tech team recently...well if you know anything about my background, I have experience in tech and arts, but leading a group of followers in creating new sets and ideas for different set changes? That is something high school, college, or any other formal education has prepared me for. In fact, it wasn't until a year ago that I started mixing sound...I still pretend to know what I'm doing most of the time! With all of that said, I feel that God has put me in a position in life to recognize the skills that He has given me and that it's been my responsibility to learn how best to use those skills and create a team and to create an environment that we can worship comfortably in. To that end, I've been reading blog after blog after blog about how we can do our job better...about how I even begin this new adventure. I have learned a lot, but I have a feeling that there is a lot more for me to learn! I accept this journey and trust that God has asked me to travel down this path. Well, that is all for now!

Boise Soul Food Festival
Today was an awesome day! In fact...even through the rough of this week, it's been an awesome week that has seen my relationship with Megan grow. Today, after an awesome morning workout with some reGENERATION friends and a friend of Refuge at the taekwondo school. We then went for a dip in the pool, and decided to go to the Boise Soul Food Festival. We had such a great time! We took the motorcycle and enjoyed the ride...it was hot, but definitely a lot of fun.
Here are some photos from today.
